The Monterey County Foodbank is located on farrow 5-acre Organic Farmland. This project is designed to revive the farm and build a facility where students in the Salinas Valley are taught the value of nourishment, stewardship, and community. Based on the work started by the gifted chef Alice Waters, author, and the founder and owner of Chez Panisse restaurant in Berkeley, California, this 5-Acre Farm will be dedicated to transforming the health of children by designing hands-on educational experiences in the garden, kitchen, and cafeteria that connect children to food, nature, and to each other.
Shipping containers are arranged in a dynamic starburst pattern around a central court which will serve as an outdoor classroom, gathering space, and food prep area. This concept will allow the facility to grow and expand in a playful manner.
